Michael, Jam, Madeline, and I, as the previous and current owners of The Australian Carob Co., would like to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to visit our website and understand a little more about us and our organic carob orchard and products.
When Madeline and I first met Michael and Jam in early 2022, it was clear that their vision and farming practices transgressed that of typical farmers. Commercial carob orchards had never been grown in Australia and typically, carob is grown for its seed content rather than pod flavour. They successfully researched and grew organic carob for its sweet pod taste and quality rather than its seed content (e.g. European carob), using organic and regenerative farming practices, whilst also developing a processing facility on farm, allowing them to offer a range of consistently premium grade, organic carob products for Australian and international markets.
Madeline and I spent months with Michael and Jam, learning about The Australian Carob Co., being warmly welcomed into their farm and home in Booborowie, SA, viewing and participating in their farming practices, sampling carob products around the kitchen table, and discovering more about carob than you could ever find in books or online. Now, along with Neil our Farm Manager, we all have the carob bug, with us jointly, all with our own strengths, pushing The Australian Carob Co. forward.
Madeline and I join this venture with experience in business management, farming, and health. Madeline as an Occupational Therapist and myself as a Physiotherapist, growing up on a farm in regional South Australia. We understand functional food, the human body, farming practices, and how these things interrelate to create health and sustainability. We have fallen for the organic and regenerative farming practices of The Australian Carob Co. which are not commonly seen and are committed to further strengthening the orchard, processing facility, our products, and the business’s relationship with its amazing customers alongside Michael and Jam.
